BILLINGS

Billings is a high-yielding, large-kernel HRW cultivar derived from a single cross of a Ukraine variety with a Pioneer experimental.  Billings shows excellent resistance to wheat soilborne mosaic virus, leaf rust, stripe rust, and to acid soils.  It combines very good stay-green characteristics with early maturity.

Test weight patterns are above average.  Its yield superiority is better realized in a grain-only management system.  Early dormancy release and moderate susceptibility to barley yellow dwarf virus make it less adapted to early planting production systems.

Billings can move better north into Kansas than it can south into Texas.
